Sometimes it’s the little things. Like growing fresh veggies that makes me happy.

But lots of vegetables take weeks or even months to grow. These only take three days, in my kitchen. There is no soil required, and when they are ready to eat, I can pop them straight in my mouth.

Here’s what I do:

  1. Get some Mung Beans (preferably organic, untreated mung beans)

2. Soak some overnight in clean water. For one person, just a tablespoon or so is enough.

3. Rinse them thoroughly and put them in a container that can drain. You want moisture, but not too much. I leave mine in a colander with a towel draped over it.

4. Twice a day, (or more if you think about it) rinse them thoroughly and put them back to drain.

5. In about three days, you will have full sprouts! Just lay them out on a towel to dry before you pop them in the fridge!

My first attempt I used way too many beans to start and ate sprouts for days.

There are so many delicious recipes that use sprouts! I have even substituted them for noodles in soups; delicious and nutritious. They also make for a nice snack on their own.

Have you ever grown sprouts? What other beans have you tried? I’m interested in branching out!
